film 2.0 has been setup as a discussion area for the dramatic changes in the film industry.
Analagous to the version numbers that designate software upgrades, the phrase "Film 2.0" hints at an improved form of the film industry. Individually there are many changes happening over the last few years from Digital cameras through to Social network sites like You Tube. Film 2.0 brings all of these together to discuss the impact as a whole of these technologies and the digitisation of the film industry.

The key principles that characterise Film 2.0 :

  • the Web as platform
  • digital as the driving force
  • network effects created by an architecture of participation
  • innovation in filmmaking by pulling together different digital technologies
  • lightweight distribution business models enabled by content and service syndication
  • digital cinema including 3-D
  • leveraging the power of the Long Tail.
Each of these areas will be discussed in detail, and further areas will be added and expanded upon.
